The Future of Music tested in Iceland

An international conference on the future of music and the latest developments in digital marketing will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland on 17th October 2007.

Reykjavik (eNewsPR) 24 September 2007 – Icelandic Music Export, in collaboration with Nordic eMarketing and the Trade Council of Iceland, are to hold a conference on new marketing initiatives and the future of music on the Internet entitled ‘Who is in Control?’.

With the advent of the Internet and 3G technology, the music industry is increasingly facing major challenges in trying to find ways to adapt and survive in the new world of music.

The ‘Who is in Control?’ international conference will present a ground-breaking new business model which Iceland could be a test bed for, as well as the latest developments in digital marketing, new technological opportunities and funding in the digital world.

A number of leading speakers from around the world will be attending the conference to be held on Wednesday 17 October 2007. These include representatives from major record labels, music magazines and websites, leading brands and chains as well as marketing experts and lawyers.

Media futurist, Gerd Leonhard (http://gerdleonhard.typepad.com), will be the main speaker at the conference and joining him will be Alison Wenham CEO of AIM, Ralph Simon CEO of Music Entertainment Forum, Federico Bolza Head of Digital Strategy for Sony-BMG, Paul Hitchman at playlouder.com and Tina El-Hagen Venture Business Manager at Guardian New Media Ventures.

Iain Forsyth, Head of Digital Media at Mute Records, will discuss his campaigns for Nick Cave’s new Grinderman project and the Moby ‘Hotel’. Jane Pollard, Head of Creative Strategy at Beggars Banquet, will talk about the Thom Yorke campaign as well as discussing different approaches to emerging new artists.
