The deal will allow BizzEnergy to install thousands of Smart Meters into its existing customer base for free or a very low monthly charge, helping users reduce their energy bills and lessen their environmental impact. The move forms part of BizzEnergy’s commitment to moving 20% of its customers onto Smart Metering by the end of 2008.
Installing a Smart Meter takes the guesswork out of billing as it provides actual meter reads, via GPRS, to energy suppliers. Automated Meter Reading (AMR) through a Smart Meter enables customers to track and price their energy consumption by providing readings on a half-hourly basis. Businesses can use this information to move onto better, more energy efficient options in order to reduce bills and lessen their environmental impact.
Stephen Taylor, CEO at BizzEnergy, comments, “We are committed to shaking up the energy industry and improving the way it operates and Smart Metering is just one area of the industry where we have led innovation, being the first to offer our customers Smart Metering in 2004. This deal means we can help our customers have more control over how they use their energy and their impact on the environment – and all at a much better price.”
“Smart Meters have become an important tool in servicing customers in the energy sector,” said Tony Stiff, Commercial Director from Bglobal PLC. “Customers are becoming more concerned about costs and the environment, and this agreement with BizzEnergy will enable more people to manage these factors more effectively.”
