Comic Relief is appealing to digital media owners to lend their support to Red Nose Day 2009 by donating online advertising inventory or editorial space.
Red Nose Day 2007 raised £67million, and every single penny went to help projects in Africa and all over the UK tackling extreme poverty. Red Nose Day is back this year on Friday 13 March and Comic Relief are absolutely determined to beat last year’s total.
But because they promise that every penny will be spent to help change lives, Comic Relief rely on other people’s generosity to help cover their costs: they need donations of online inventory and editorial space to help them encourage the nation to support Red Nose Day in 2009. Any offer, no matter how small, will make the world of difference to people living incredibly tough lives.
Comic Relief have challenged online PR agency iKontakt to recruit media owners willing to run ‘Do Something Funny for Money’ banners and skyscrapers for free between now and 13 March. iKontakt’s Mark Whitmore says: ‘Having worked in a similar way with Sport Relief and Children In Need, we have found the digital community to be very supportive of good causes. Even though we recognise many media owners are under extra pressure in these uncertain times, we are hopeful of a positive response in 2009.’
To pledge support, media owners can contact iKontakt on 020 3008 7687 or rednose@ikontakt.co.uk.
