Venture into the Tamar Valley for family activity

Newly opened Tree Surfers, based on the Devon bank of the Tamar Valley, offers families with teenagers a unique adrenaline thumping adventure high up in the tree tops.

Tree Surfers is an awe inspiring high ropes activity course set deep in the Tamar Valley woodland a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Using your skill, balance and sense of adventure you venture across a variety of rope bridges, tight ropes, trapeze swings, surfing planks and zip slides high up in the tree tops.
Tree Surfers offers a full half day family activity for £17 for under 18’s and £20 for adults. There are three different rope courses to transverse, all are challenging but vary in their complexity, which means anyone over 1.5 metre tall, – even those without a head of heights, can give it a go. And just when you think you might have got the swing of it there are obstacles to negotiate!

Paul Turner of Tree Surfers, said: “Tree Surfers is all about creating an exciting outdoor activity, like none other, where people can enjoy the natural surroundings and transport themselves through the tree canopy overlooking a breathtakingly panoramic landscape. It’s a great day out, it’s challenging but it helps boost self esteem and confidence and it’s just great fun.”

The Tamar Valley is becoming ‘the activity’ destination
The River Tamar divides the two counties of Cornwall and Devon along most of its 61 miles in length. The Tamar Valley is renowned for its stunning landscape, rich mining heritage and fauna and flora. Since becoming designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and more recently receiving World Heritage Status for its industrial mining past the area, previously commercial woodland, now boasts a range of exciting outdoor activities.

As a destination there is a lot on offer to keep the most active of teenagers happy from; canoeing on the river with Canoe Tamar to exploring a series of walkways and cycle trails that include a down hill mountain biking track and an indoor climbing barn.

If mum and dad want to take it a bit easier, there is the market town of Tavistock just three miles away and historic houses and gardens to explore. Or sample the delights of award winning restaurant, The Horn of Plenty, with panoramic views across the valley.

Tree Surfers is priced at £17 for children under 18 years of age and £20 for adults. For further information visit www.treesurfers.co.uk call 0845 459 4632 or email info@treesurfers.co.uk.
