Mark the date 29th October 2011, when you will set out for an adventure of a lifetime. Joining you in this expedition will be like minded climbing enthusiasts, as you will scale the Mt. Kilimanjaro for a 11 day long climb. This is a special fund raising event put together by Private Kilimanjaro and World Youth Education Trust, encouraging nature lovers worldwide, to extend their support and enthusiasm.
The arrival at Kilimanjaro’s International Airport, marks the beginning of the schedule, and from there, you set off on a well planned climb to Mt. Kilimanjaro’s highest summit – the Freedom Peak (Uhuru Peak). According to an executive, “We are climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money for the projects supported by World Youth Education Trust. Therefore, WYET kindly requests each climber reaches a sponsored fund raising target of AU $3,000 or GBP £2.000 to be donated to the Trust in addition to the climb and travel costs outlined.”
The fund raising climb is stretched from 29th October and ending at 8th November. This is how your itinerary is laid out:
29th October- Arrival in Kilimanjaro and Accommodation in Moshi.
30th October- Day spent at Moshi
31st October- Machame Gate to Machame Camp- walk through the rain forest
1st November- Machame Camp to Shira Camp
2nd November- Shira Camp-via Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
3rd November- Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
4th November- Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Hut
5th November- Mweka Hut to Hotel
6th November- 1. Return to Kilimanjaro International Airport
2.OR- Go on to Mto Wa Mbu to meet kids from the Mwalimu Anna School.
The entire climb will be filled with exquisite sights and sounds of Kilimanjaro’s flora and fauna. Enjoy the rich greenery and haunting moorlands while camping and eating with fellow climbers. As for payments, you have to make a 20% advance deposit while signing up for the climb, by 31st July. The sum comes to AU $580 and GBP £380 and is non-refundable. The guides will do a physical check up twice a day of every climber, and you will be provided with excellent equipment and food on the mountain.
