Dementia Adventure has won £15,000 in the Santander Social Enterprise Development Award, which will be used towards the expansion of the Community Interest Company.
This award will allow the enterprise to fund a new community engagement worker who will work towards building links with dementia groups across Essex and the UK, bringing in more business.
Using the premise that nature is good for everyone, Dementia Adventure offers short breaks and adventure holidays for people living with dementia. Whether people live in care homes or in their own home, Dementia Adventure offers everyone the opportunity to connect with nature and meet others in the local community.
The enterprise also works alongside care providers, local authorities and health services to help them support people living with dementia to get out into nature as much as possible.
Neil Mapes, Director, said, “The Santander Award is a significant boost for our enterprise and it could not have come at a better time. It will allow us to extend our reach to those unaware of our service so that we are able to improve the lives of a greater number of people living with dementia”
