Dementia Adventure Wins Santander Enterprise Award

Dementia Adventure has won £15,000 in the Santander Social Enterprise Development Award, which will be used towards the expansion of the Community Interest Company.

This award will allow the enterprise to fund a new community engagement worker who will work towards building links with dementia groups across Essex and the UK, bringing in more business.

Using the premise that nature is good for everyone, Dementia Adventure offers short breaks and adventure holidays for people living with dementia. Whether people live in care homes or in their own home, Dementia Adventure offers everyone the opportunity to connect with nature and meet others in the local community.

The enterprise also works alongside care providers, local authorities and health services to help them support people living with dementia to get out into nature as much as possible.

Neil Mapes, Director, said, “The Santander Award is a significant boost for our enterprise and it could not have come at a better time. It will allow us to extend our reach to those unaware of our service so that we are able to improve the lives of a greater number of people living with dementia”

Notes:

Dementia Adventure is a multi-award winning social enterprise specialising in connecting people living with dementia with nature. Our organisation is supported by people living with dementia who help deliver many aspects of the work, including training.

We provide Training, Research, and Consultancy services – all with nature in mind. We have an excellent reputation for delivering high quality projects quickly and efficiently. We can help to extend and improve your services to people living with dementia, by supporting you to take advantage of the natural resources on your doorstep. We have spent some time developing the evidence base for the benefits of activity out in nature for people living with dementia.

Dementia Adventure is a registered Community Interest Company no 6885732.
