Exeter Golf and Country Club is celebrating record new member numbers for the first 6 months of the club’s financial year. New member numbers from April to October this year are 32% up on the same period in 2011 and 59% up on 2010.
Over the past three years, Exeter Golf and Country Club has invested in its facilities, training and marketing and there has been a direct correlation in the new member results. Since 2008, the number of new members has increased by an impressive 72%.
Martin Halse, General Manager said, “We are delighted about this boost to our membership. Exeter Golf and Country Club has always been about providing an excellent experience for our members whether they are here to enjoy time with friends and family, train for competitions or events, get fit or improve their sporting skills. We are unique in that the club is owned by the members and operates entirely for the members. Every penny of revenue is re-invested into the club to ensure continuous improvement.”
The club, famous for its 18 hole golf course also offers 6 tennis courts, squash and racketball courts, some of the best indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools in Exeter which are open all year round and a gym, which was refurbished earlier this year.
Exeter Golf and Country Club has been located on Topsham Road since 1929, but originally opened in the Pennsylvania area of the city in 1895. The club has over 4,300 members as well as an increasing commercial operation with function rooms and Wear Park Bar and Restaurant, great family dining in Exeter, located in the main mansion house overlooking the putting green.
A £1 million development project started back at the end of 2010, when the indoor swimming pool was refurbished with over £182,000 invested. Next in line was a complete renovation of our Exeter gym and fitness facilities, theGym, which re-opened on New Year’s Day with new interactive Life Fitness equipment and as part of a £150,000 investment
There has been a 42% increase in gym members following the investment in theGym and the club’s fitness studio which offers a full range of holistic, fitness and endurance classes.
Martin Halse continues, “Our new member numbers are incredibly promising so far this year. We are continuing to look at improving the experience of our members to ensure we are offering the best facilities and service possible for the very best value. With our membership prices starting from just over £1 a day we know we offer a level of membership for everyone. Exeter Golf and Country Club is a very welcoming and accessible club with a friendly ‘home from home’ atmosphere making it perfect for every level of fitness, skill and confidence.”
Exeter Golf and Country Club members range from families, to young couples and grandparents. The number of family members has also increased since the club launched a new ‘All Sports Junior Membership’ back in April, which starts from £45 a year.
Exeter Golf and Country Club is currently offering a 50% off joining fee promotion for those joining to swim, play golf or rackets or use the gym.
