Norwegian oil workers’ income second to highest in the world states income survey

According to a recent survey based on the average income of oil workers, oil workers in Norway earn the second highest income in the world, with the highest income going to oil workers in Australia.

The survey, conducted by leading international recruitment consultancy Hays Oil & Gas, states that the average yearly income of oil workers in Norway is 866,750NOK, 75 percent higher than the global average.

According to Hays Oil & Gas, Norway’s oil and gas wealth has played a huge role in protecting West Europe’s biggest oil exporters in the Euro-crisis. Record-breaking levels of investments in the oil industry have increased its demand. This, combined with a lack of qualified labour, has resulted in a rise of wages.

In 2012, the average income of oil workers in Norway was the highest in the world, with the income reaching over the one million mark.

Statistics for the income survey are based on the salary information of 25,000 oil workers across the world.
