The glaciers, ice caves, volcanoes, waterfalls, black sand beaches and northern lights of Iceland are at the top of every visitors list, and a South Coast tour is the best way to experience it all. The 2 day TREK Iceland guided tour explores all that the majestic coast has to offer throughout the 2015-2016 winter season.
Driving along Route 1, guests begin the day exploring the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, followed by a walk along the black beaches of Vík to witness the breathtaking basalt columns and the famous Reynisdrangar peaks. Along the way, passengers will drive through vast lava field covered in glowing green moss, mountain ranges, glacial peaks and and steaming geothermal areas. The day will end chasing Northern Lights deep in the Icelandic country side, close to the cozy hotel accomodations.
Day two begins at the infamous Jokulsárlón glacial lagoon where Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull, meets the Atlantic ocean, and visitors watch icebergs float by. From James Bond to Lara Croft, Justin Bieber to Bon Iver, the dramatic Jokulsárlón glacial lagoon has been the backdrop for many movies and music videos over the last few years.
Certified guides then lead visitors on a classic Icelandic glacier tour and into a nearby ice cave for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of walking inside the blue glacial ice. On the way back to Reykjavík, the tour stops in Skaftafell National Park to explore the forests and waterfalls of the area.
While keeping everyone safe during the trip, the experienced guides of TREK Iceland aim to educate guests about the geological history of the land, and ensure that all of the marvelous sights are seen along the way.
