Bewley Homes staff roll up their sleeves for children’s charity

A philanthropic group from Bewley Homes gave up their Saturday to help create a pleasant outdoor space for children’s charity Sebastian’s Action Trust (SAT).

Emily Clarke, Mark Cripps, Laura Layton, Leighton Marchant, Joel Mumby, Tom Radley and Josh Tuffs got their hands dirty at The Woodlands in Crowthorne as part of the event. The Woodlands is the charity’s newest site, having been taken on as an administrative hub last summer. It provides a location for families to pop in for financial guidance, sibling support, special events or just a cup of tea and a chat with the SAT team.

The Bewley staff members spent the day clearing the woodland boundary on the site’s grounds, in preparation for the planting of azaleas and hedging from Inhurst Landscaping. The volunteers also worked hard to tidy up a substantial amount of foliage to create more usable space for visitors.

Emily Clarke, who is PA to Bewley Homes’ Operations Director Peter Carpinelli, said: “Now we have cleared the foliage, it will be easier for the children to access the area and build dens there. Eventually, there will be a woodland path to be used by the families too.”

She added: “Everyone from Bewley thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”

SAT’s Corporate Social Responsibility Co-ordinator Jane Flood said: “A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered with us on Saturday. It was a huge help for us and it will make such a difference to the families who access our facilities.”

Sebastian’s Action Trust has been supported by Bewley Homes since the developer helped to create the charity’s flagship respite facility, The Bluebells in North Waltham, in 2011. In addition, a donation of nearly £25,000 was made after Bewley Homes’ annual Golf Fundraising Day last year.

Founded in 1991, independent developer Bewley Homes has sites across Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey. For more information, visit www.bewley.co.uk.

Since 1991, Bewley Homes has been creating stunning developments which in turn form exciting new communities. Each street scene, open space or play area has been designed to open up the possibility of lifelong friendships with neighbours and giving families an environment in which they can relax and thrive. We think carefully about each location and how our homes settle into the surrounding area. www.bewley.co.uk
