Shanghai/Munich, November 3, 2021 – Shanghai based personal mobility provider Aiways will start selling its electric battery SUVs in Switzerland. Partnering with Alcomotive, Swiss car buyers will be able to order the all-electric Aiways U5 SUV online or from showrooms from beginning of next year.
Alcomotive is a joint venture between the Spanish Bergé Auto and the Belgian based Alcopa and will become the exclusive distributor for Aiways in Switzerland. As a pre-launch event, the Shanghai based EV brand will be present at the Zürich motor show.
COO Olivier Sermeus from
Dr. Alexander Klose, Executive Vice President of Overseas Operations at Aiways, commented: “We’ve had our eye on the Swiss market for a while now, and we are delighted to partner with Alcomotive. Our exciting products and their proven track record in sales and marketing will give us the best chance of attracting new EV buyers to the Aiways brand. Also, our 2022 European expansion is in full swing with Switzerland and there will be more markets to follow – even this year.”
Like in all other European markets (currently Aiways is available in: Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark and Germany) the Aiways U5 SUV will be joined by the Aiways U6 SUV-Coupé at the start of 2022. Both models are all-electric, offering accessible zero emissions motoring, long range, and class-leading practicality. Aiways intends to release one new electric vehicle per year in Europe following the start of sales for the Aiways U6.

About Aiways
Founded in 2017, Aiways is a Shanghai-based personal mobility provider with its European HQ in Munich, Germany. It was the first Chinese startup to introduce an electric vehicle to the European market with the launch of the U5 in 2020 – a battery-electric SUV with impressive range, style, and quality. Aiways continues its expansion in Europe and beyond: order books are open in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, France, and Israel – with more markets to follow. The U5 is produced at Aiways smart production facility in Shangrao – one of the most modern car production facilities in China. With an initial production capacity of 150,000 units per annum, Aiways can increase this number to 300,000 units when global EV demand rises. Aiways’ next model for Europe will be the U6 electric coupé. With a focus on class-leading aerodynamics, intelligent technology, and sporty design, the U6 investigates the exciting future of the Aiways brand.
