Esprit Electronics becomes a Real Living Wage Employer

Hampshire, UK, 18.03.2022 – Hampshire-based Contract Electronics Manufacturer (CEM) Esprit Electronics are excited to announce joining the Living Wage Foundation and becoming a real Living Wage employer. As of January 2022, all employees of Esprit Electronics as a minimum will be on the real Living Wage.

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate that is voluntarily paid by almost 9,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage that meets everyday needs. Every April the government re-evaluate and set the minimum wage paid, however, this wage is not calculated according to what employees and their families need to live on. Real Living Wage rates are higher because they are independently calculated based on what people need to get by. Esprit Electronics Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at the company receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.90 in the UK or £11.05 in London. Both rates are significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £8.91 per hour.

Laurie Sigournay, Managing Director says: “We’re thrilled to become a real living wage employer. The wellbeing of the team at Esprit Electronics is of up most importance and we believe that everyone deserves the right to have a wage that reflects the true costs of living. We are proud to become part of the Living Wage Foundation and agree with their ethos that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. We strive to be a responsible employer who choose to go further and pay a real Living Wage based on the cost of living, not just the government minimum”.
