Last year, Norway topped the list of the highest salaries in the oil industry across the world, followed by Australia. A recent survey by Hays Oil & Gas showed that Norwegian oil industry income is 75% higher than the global average.
Hays Oil & Gas put this down to the fact that “both countries have limited access to qualified workforce combined with a high demand. The result is very high salaries.”
Norway is the world’s seventh largest exporter of oil and the second largest exporter of natural gas. The petroleum sector represents 25% of the gross domestic product, 25% of state income, 50% of export earnings, and provides 250,000 jobs in the country.
