Jon Karl Olafsson will be the new CEO of JetX/Primera Air from March 3rd. Olafsson will also serve on Primera Travel Group’s management board and is expected to be one of the key officers of the Group. Ingimar Ingimarsson, former CEO of JetX/PrimeraAir, will become chairman of JetX’s board.
JetX/Primera Air currently operates 6 planes and aims to operate 10 – 12 next year. Most of the operation is on behalf of Primera Travel Group, which owns and operates Budget Travel in Ireland, Heimsferdir and Terra Nova in Iceland, Solresor in Sweden, Solia in Norway, Bravo Tours in Denmark as well as Matka Vekka and Lomamatkat in Finland.
JetX/Primera Air has experienced large growth in the last 18 months. This spring will see operations starting in Dublin, Ireland, with two new aircraft. JetX/Primera Air currently operates flights from Keflavik, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Oslo, Helsinki and Copenhagen.

Jón Karl Ólafsson was the Managing Director of domestic carrier Air Iceland (Flugfelags Islands) from 1999 to 2004. He became CEO of flag carrier Icelandair in 2004 and subsequently CEO of Icelandair Group from 2005 to 2007. Jon Karl Olafsson has been chairman of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association since 2003 and on the board of the Iceland Chamber of Commerce, serving as chairman between 2003 and 2005. He has also been on the board of the Trade Council of Iceland and the Confederation of Icelandic Employers.
