New menu for health conscious Iceland Express

Low cost Icelandic airline Iceland Express unveils a new healthier menu in response to customer feedback.

Iceland Express will launch its new healthier food choices on 1st June 2008 in response to the increasing health consciousness of the general public and as part of the airline’s commitment to make its flights more enjoyable.

The new menu is a collaboration between Iceland Express and Avaxtabillinn, one of Iceland’s most recognised purveyors of ready-made health foods. Avaxtabillinn emphasises the importance of fresh fruit and vegetables and the benefits of food without artificial additives.

The new healthier options will include salads, fruit salads, pasta dishes, pizzas and an improved sandwich selection. The meals made for Iceland Express will not contain any peanuts or kiwifruit.

“Passengers have increasingly been asking for more fresh and healthy food onboard and therefore we decided to change our menu in co-operation with Avaxtabillinn. The company is known for producing high quality product that we are proud to be able to offer our passengers,” said Matthias Imsland, managing director of Iceland Express.

Budget airlines do not offer complimentary in-flight meals, but Iceland Express has always prided itself on offering food and drink onboard at the lowest possible prices, allowing hungry passengers the chance to get something to eat. The airline promises that the upcoming improvements to the onboard menu will do nothing to change the excellent value for money passengers have come to expect.

Iceland Express is an Icelandic budget airline connecting Reykjavik with 14 European destinations, including London, Berlin, Barcelona and Paris. The airline celebrates its fifth anniversary this year and has recently started services to Warsaw, Poland.

In addition to services to London Stansted, Iceland Express will also start a regular scheduled service to London Gatwick in September.
