The Adventure Company spreads some festive cheer with group discounts on alternative Christmas and New Year getaways

The festive season is a time to celebrate with family and friends, so this year The Adventure Company is offering a discount of £50 per person for groups of six or more* travelling together during Christmas and New Year.

The wide variety of winter trips available range from snow-based activities in the mountains of eastern European to tropical adventures in the jungles of Borneo, all of which will help groups end the year on a high with some truly unforgettable experiences and shared memories.

For those looking to get away but worried about the credit crunch, The Adventure Company’s discounts are sure to be a welcome Christmas bonus.

Travellers in search of a white Christmas should head to the Tatras Mountains in Slovakia for the Tatras Winter Adventure. This is the perfect base for a winter activities week, with the opportunity to try dog sledding with Huskies, snowshoeing, sledging and skiing or snowboarding. The trip departs on December 20th 2008 and costs from £939 per person with a €50 local payment upon arrival. The price includes flights from London Heathrow, accommodation, activities, transport and some meals. Land only prices are also available, starting from £679 per person plus €50 local payment.

Families wanting to make the most of the school holidays can head to Borneo and share Christmas with the orang-utans on the Headhunters of Borneo trip. The 13-day trip includes an overnight stay with the Iban (headhunter) tribe and the opportunity to try Iban-style fishing; a visit to the orang-utan rehabilitation centre at Sepilok; time to snorkel with the turtles on Turtle Island; and white water rafting at Kota Kunabalu. The trip runs from December 18th–30th 2008 and costs from £2,449 for adults and £2,109 for children. These prices include flights from London Heathrow, accommodation, activities, transport and some meals. Land only prices are also available, starting from £1,099 per adult and £959 per child.

Keen walkers looking to kick-start the January fitness regime early can choose from trekking holidays such as Patagonia Explorer (departing 30 December, flight-inclusive prices from £2,439 per person); or Annapurna Sanctuary in Nepal (departing 19 December, flight-inclusive prices from £1,589 per person).

Other options for families include Feluccas and Pharaohs in Egypt (prices from £999 per child and £1,079 per adult); or Tiger Trails and Taj Mahal in India (prices from £1,309 per child and £1,499 per adult).

The group discount is valid from 1 Oct 2008 until 30 Sep 2009 and can be combined with the Loyalty Discount but no other promotion. The booking must comprise of a minimum of six people, with one nominated lead passenger to whom all the booking correspondence will be sent. Adult prices must be more than £900 per passenger. Valid on all trips departing before 30 September 2009 subject to availability.
