Michelin recommends New York Italian hotel

The sumptuous Michelangelo Hotel in New York is already considered one of the finest hotels in the city – and the 2009 Michelin Guide agrees. The Michelangelo is a haven of European gentility just seconds away from Times Square and some of the best shopping in the world and convenient to Wall Street and Downtown.

Not only does the Michelangelo Hotel receive a recommendation in the celebrated 2009 NYC Michelin Guide, but it has also been named one of the top 500 ‘Greatest Hotels of the World’ by Travel & Leisure Magazine and has been placed on the ‘Gold List’ for the ‘Best Places to Stay in the Whole World’ by Conde Nast Traveller.

Walking into the foyer brings to mind the best of Florence or Venice. Away from the spectacular public spaces, the Michelangelo offers some of the largest and grandest hotel rooms in New York, where guests are surrounded by crystal chandeliers, oil paintings and elegant antique furnishings.

At an average of 45 square metres, the majority of rooms have king size bed, two televisions, marble foyer, mini-bar, sitting area and grand-scale bathtub, all adding to the ambience of a sumptuous Italian villa. The guest rooms combine elegant furnishings and modern day conveniences with generous living space.

The Michelangelo is described in the 2009 NYC Michelin Guide as: “Convenient to Times Square, the Theatre District, Rockefeller Centre and Midtown offices, The Michelangelo caters to both leisure and business travellers. A recent renovation has polished the two-story lobby, regal in its liberal use of marble, rich fabric panels and crystal chandeliers.”

“Part of an Italian hotel chain, the Michelangelo interprets hospitality with gusto di vivere italiano. Turndown service, a complimentary continental breakfast, a small fitness centre, and limo service to Wall Street on weekday mornings number among the amenities,” the Guide continues.

Often favoured by Scandinavians in New York for its European atmosphere, its multilingual service and the fact that its luxury is refreshingly unpretentious, the Michelangelo really is the best of Manhattan.

The Michelangelo Hotel guarantees the best prices on its own website – no hidden costs. More info at www.michelangelohotel.com
