Among a wide variety of activities while on holiday in Iceland, scuba diving is by far the most unique. Located in the heart of Thingvellir Iceland, Silfra Fissure is rated as one of the world’s best dive sites, and Icelandic tour company Dive Silfra offers year-round scuba diving tours into the crystal clear waters.
The PADI® certified Divemaster leads divers into the glacial water resting between the Eurasian and American tectonic plates on daily tours. With extraordinarily clear visibility, divers explore the three main sections that make up the giant chasm – Silfra Lagoon, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Hall. While Silfra’s depth varies from 10-40 meters, the excursion is split into two dives reaching a maximum depth of 18 meters.
The requirement for the scuba diving tours is a PADI certificate or equivalent, and the minimum age is 18 years. All dive equipment is included in the price, as well as pick up and drop off in Reykjavík. In order to maintain the pristine nature and fragile environment of the Silfra Fissure, guests are encouraged to take nothing but pictures and make nothing but memories.
From experienced scuba divers to novice snorkelers, there is a Dive Silfra tour for everyone, no matter the skill level. With industry-leading standards in safety and equipment, the team of professional, experienced, and friendly guides are committed to sharing their passion for diving and the aquatic wilderness.
