Success at Thailand Virtual Mart – gearing towards eco friendly and safe destination

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Stockholm Office, organized the Virtual Trade Meet last week on June 9. Over 70 participants from Thailand, Nordics and Baltics joined the travel mart to prepare the country for welcoming internal tourists, starting from the Phuket Sandbox project from 1st of July.  Selected beach destinations such as Koh Samui, Krabi, Phang Nga (Khao Lak) and Pattaya participated in the event to update the trade industry for the country to reopen for international tourists from October and onwards.

Towards eco friendly Thailand and a safe destination

During the pandemic, hotels and resorts in Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Khao Lak as well as in Pattaya have been freshening up and putting a lot of effort into ensuring safe environments for travellers. Among the measurements are safety standards to meet the health and safety guidelines controlled by SHA or Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration.

To meet travellers’ demands, the Tourism Authority of Thailand aims to introduce more eco-friendly and sustainable activities and we are attempting to rebrand tourism products and destinations to reopen the country and to welcome international tourists.

Phuket has been one of Nordic and Baltic’s favorite destinations. The island offers convenient city life and yet travellers can access a wide range of beaches with different characters. Being said, Phuket is a mini beach city with an all inclusive lifestyle. You can find any activities that suit your interests. Activities range from cruising, surfing, golfing, cycling and trekking. You can also enjoy delicious dishes from local street food to Michelin star restaurants. Phuket is an ideal destination for those who seek a long stay or a shorter period thanks to the variety of products and accommodations.

Phang Nga (Khao Lak) is a perfect destination for nature lovers and an excellent vacation spot for beach-lovers, boasting a family-friendly atmosphere. It is divers’ heaven and a great destination for honeymooners, thanks to its serene atmosphere. Phang Nga and Khao Lak is a charming beach town where the local and traditional way of life is well-kept. Travellers can choose a wide range of outdoor activities such as cave and limestone adventure in Ice Cream Cave, snorkeling in Moo Koh Similan or simply relaxing and swimming at Lagoons like Panak Island, Koh Kudu, or Koh Roi.

Krabi is the adventure paradise for those who prefer to spend an active holiday. Travellers can enjoy many activities to enhance your holiday experience such as snorkeling and kayaking in Moo Ko Lanta, sailing offshore the Andaman Coastline, rock climbing in Railay, canoe exploration in Koh Hong, hiking to Emerald Pool or just relaxing at Khem Khlong Thom hotspring, which is the only salted hot spring in Thailand. Travelers can also visit local communities and experience authentic ways of life including how to make traditional Baba-Nyonya costumes in Ban Ko Klang Community and Laem Sak Community.

Samui is on the World’s 15 best islands for retirees according to International Living, a North American-based magazine for retirees. The magazine listed Koh Samui at number 10 among its 15 hand-picked islands, scattered around the globe that make for an affordable retirement. These islands are where retirees can find privacy, peace, a simpler way of life, and strong communities. Besides, Samui is a pioneer for eco-friendly tourism products and green initiatives to ensure a sustainable future.

Samui is also a wellness capital of Thailand with many wellness accommodations and retreats scattered around the island. The best time to visit Koh Samui is during June to September which makes the island perfect for summer island heaven. Moreover travelers can enjoy sailing and yachting around the island.

Pattaya is only 2 hours drive from Bangkok and nowadays has become a great escape for family and golf lovers. Pattaya is a city full of lifes and activities for all generations that include golfing, water sport and water park, open air zoo, art gallery & museum. Moreover, Pattaya is a hub for sailing and yachting.

If travellers want a day trip, Koh Si-chang and Bang Saray are recommended. Koh Si-chang is primarily a fishing island that holds its local charm. Bang Saray is not yet known for tourists. It is a very small, quaint town with a very local atmosphere, giving you the chance to enjoy calm days where you have the beach almost to yourself as well as peaceful nights undisturbed by loud music and bright lights.
