“For example, a man, who we’ can call John, contacted us and wanted to book a trip to a magnificent and unforgettable place where he could propose to his fiancee, Charlotte. He wanted us to find the perfect place, and we were thrilled that John trusted us for this monumental moment in their lives.”

John, therefore, arranged a snowmobile tour on Vatnajökull with Glacier Journey. Unbeknownst to Charlotte, this was just the beginning of an extraordinary experience. The meticulously planned surprise element added an extra layer of excitement to the day.

John and Charlotte had the perfect day: beautiful blue skies with no cloud in sight, freshly fallen crisp snow, and no wind. They had the most fantastic view over the vast ice cap of Vatnajökull, with majestic mountain peaks all around. The glimmering glacier made them feel like they were on a different planet. 

“We took them to the perfect location in a valley below mountain peaks. We gave John the sign that this was the place, “Laufey says and continues. He trampled through the snow to get to Charlotte’s snowmobile. He got down on one knee in the knee-deep fresh snow by her side while she sat there, perfectly oblivious to what was happening. Thank God, she said yes. 

Laufey had brought some chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne, and flowers on tour to celebrate their love. “This moment was something no one can ever forget,” she says.

This beautiful moment took place during a volcanic eruption in Grindavík. Iceland is a small country, but it is still huge. The volcanic eruptions in Grindavík do not affect the safety of traveling in other places in Iceland. Glacier Journey is located on the Southeast coast of Iceland. 

“Of course, these natural disasters affect us by heart,” Laufey says. “We are genuinely sorry for the people of Grindavík who must flee their homes and start over in different places. But we are safe; we can travel, fly, and enjoy the rest of Iceland.”

Amidst the natural chaos of a volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula, John and Charlotte found themselves in the most extraordinary circumstances. The thrill of driving a snowmobile on Vatnajökull, a memory to be cherished forever, was only the beginning.
