Non-stop flights from Reykjavik to Warsaw

Iceland Express will operate direct flights between Iceland and Poland this summer for the first time.

Reykjavik / Warsaw (eNewsWire) 5 February 2008 – Budget airline Iceland Express will start flying between Warsaw and Reykjavik from May this year. It the first time a direct route between the two countries has been operated.

It is expected that the large number of Poles who live and work in Iceland will take advantage of the cheap direct flights from Iceland to Poland, rather than taking two flights via London or Copenhagen which has been customary up until now.

Iceland Express will operate one flight a week to Warsaw from May 15th and twice a week from June. There will also be two special flights in March.

Matthias Imsland, CEO of Iceland Express, said, “It’s a great pleasure to add Warsaw to our group of destinations and be able to offer tourists from Poland the opportunity to travel easily to Iceland and experience our unique nature and exciting culture.”

“I’m also sure that Icelanders will welcome the possibility to fly directly to Warsaw, since interest in travelling to Eastern Europe has grown rapidly for the last few years,” Matthias added.

Iceland Express is a budget airline which operates flights between Iceland and 15 European destinations, including London, Berlin, Copenhagen and Paris. The airline celebrates its fifth anniversary this year with Warsaw becoming the latest city on its list of European destinations.
